Beginning a New Chapter

To look back and see what life has thrown at us since Hubby and I had decided to make a change in not only our lives but our girls I have noticed that we have been blessed so much these past 8 months since we first started talking about this change.

Hubby and I have always talked about moving somewhere and starting our lives fresh somewhere but to think that God has brought us here still blows my mind because of all he has done in our lives and how he has shown us his blessings.

October of 2012 is when this all started to arise. We had looked into me joining the Army but it wasn't settling with me very well because I didn't want to leave the girls. My heart just couldn't take being away from them for longer than a day, let alone 6 months. J.R. and I then talked about moving somewhere away from the Northwest. We had decided on Kansas.

My husband was born in Kansas at St. Joseph's hospital and has always been a Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and a Jayhawk fan so this was going to be heaven for him. He asked me what I thought and I told him I really wanted to be somewhere that we could enjoy summer for summer and winter for winter.

J.R. had discussed with his boss at work about doing the transfer process which would start in January. We didn't start telling family until we knew that this for sure was going to be something that God led us to do.

We had started praying for a new home church and that there would be a job opening for my husband at his new Costco location. We looked into churches out here and found an MFI (Ministers Fellowship International) church through City Bible, which is our home church back in Washington and found out that a man by the name of Danny Brown who knew Frank Damazio ran the church out in Overland Park. We contacted him and told him we were looking into moving there and he said that he would help us look for places and show us around.

When January came around J.R. talked to his boss again and they put his transfer in on a Friday in the middle of the month. J.R. got a call the Monday after he put in the paperwork and it was a call from the Costco. He had an interview over the phone and they told him we would have an answer by the end of the week. Keep in mind we weren't planning on having him go until April but they asked if he would come sooner and he said yes

Friday came and he got a call from Costco out here in Overland Park and they asked if he could come out the first week in February. WOW!!! Panic mode here we came. We were not expecting that. We at that point took a day to take it all in and found out that they wanted him out there for sure February 14th. At this point it was almost the end of January so J.R. took a week and a half off of work and spent time with us and then headed to Overland Park Feburary 10th and then the girls and I would follow in April.

I will tell you that the time with Daddy came and went quick and he left while the kids were sleeping on February 10th and arrived safely on the 12th. He stayed with a guy by the name of Mike Bayly who attended Hope Alive Church which is our new church here in Kansas.

J.R. and I started immediately looking for places out here in Kansas, which is very hard to do together when you are so far apart but we made it work. It got discouraging at times but we never gave up and found a place by March 1st. It is an amazing 3 bedroom with all hardwood floors.

When we moved in to the place we had to make a hard decision and we had to leave everything that we had owned as far as furniture out in Washington and start all over out here in Kansas. Our church pastor put out a wide email to help us get furniture for our new place and because of the generosity of many people and the love of others we have our whole place furnished. God has truly been a blessing during this time.

We were reunited as a family, all except one girl who will come out in June on April 9, 2013. Life is going well so far but we sure do miss Hannah.
